I have been a Medical Herbalist for over twenty years and have practiced in Zimbabwe, New Zealand, Wales and England. In Zimbabwe I had my own company growing organic herbs and making them into tinctures, capsules, creams and teas. I am also an Ayurvedic practitioner having trained with the European Institute of Vedic Studies and completed a clinical internship with Dr. Alaknanda Rao BAMS and Dr. Deepa Kshire BAMS in Pune, India.
Ayurveda enables me to understand your present health imbalances and how these can be treated. I will formulate a bespoke treatment plan that will be aimed to treat the cause of the problem and not just the symptoms.
I practice at Neal's Yard Remedies in Salisbury and at The Healthy Life Company in Devizes, both of which are in Wiltshire. I also teach both herbal medicine and Ayurveda at the College of Naturopathic Medicine in London.
My areas of special interest are digestive issues, stress and women's reproductive problems although I have treated many other conditions over the years. From an Ayurvedic perspective a healthy functioning digestive tract is vitally important for health. It is normally the first place to treat and often many other problems fall into place once the digestive capacity has been regulated and any toxins removed.
Medical herbalism and Ayurveda go hand in hand and gives me a large 'toolbox' from which to choose the appropriate treatments for you. For instance, when treating digestive problems the following would be effective in a treatment plan: diet, abdominal massage with warm oil and heat pads, herbs, relaxation techniques and breathing excercises.
